Introduction/Purpose:
The purpose of this lesson is to show the learner research-based teaching strategies that can be applied in the classroom and included in a new lesson plan. The data will be presented in a webinar format, in four, 30-minute self-paced tutorials and the learner will apply the knowledge acquired to an actual teaching scenario.
Learning Objective(s):
When given a blank lesson plan, the learner will choose at least three brain-based learning strategies to integrate in the lesson plan with 85% accuracy according to the data presented in the webinar.
Teaching Timeline: Four, 30-minute period
Instructional Sequence/Activities:
Midterm summative assessment:
The instructor will read all lesson plans submitted and check for understanding of the strategies presented in the webinar. Feedback will be given individually via email, with an emphasis on 85% accuracy in the integration of brain-based strategies presented in the webinar in the lesson plan.

- The learner will access the website http://gconnbrain-basedlearning.weebly.com
- The learner will click the Teacher Tutorial tab
- The learner will go to Tutorial #4 titled How the Brain Works
- The learner will watch the Edutopia webinar
- The learner will take notes and answer the question: Based on Willis’ work and your classroom experience, what strategies do you think will benefit your students?
- The learner will choose at least three strategies
- The learner will create a lesson plan with a template of their choice and include the strategies chosen
- The learner will post the completed lesson plan on the forum
- The learner will read at least one lesson plan posted by another learner and give feedback
- The learner will receive individual feedback from the instructor via email
